5 Unique functions and cautions/limitations of the utility

General

* About this utility

This scan driver is used to import scanned images stored in the folder of the scanner to TWAIN interface-compatible applications operating in a Windows environment.
Select [FUJIFILM Network Scanner 3 TWAIN] as the TWAIN data source.

The Stored File Manager 3 is a folder utility that accesses the folder periodically and sends a notification when a new file is received.

* When the scan driver and Stored File Manager 3 are used concurrently

The scan driver and Stored File Manager 3 cannot be used concurrently on the same computer. Also, multiple scan drivers and Stored File Manager 3 cannot be used at the same time.

* About pages when transmission is disconnected during importing

If transmission between the multi-function machine is disconnected when importing a file that is stored in the folder, the imported page may not be displayed correctly.

* Authentication of User ID

Authentication is required for authentication-enabled scanner device.
If you enter a User ID with no passcode in the authentication dialog, you may not be able to connect to the folder even if you enter a correct User ID. As the password is not set in the authentication information that is managed by Login to Local Accounts, set a passcode with more than 1 character and access again.
If non-ASCII code characters are used for authentication information, authentication may fail.

* About setting files etc. sharing

This scan driver does not support "roaming user profile" and "environment where a profile is redirected to shared folder etc."

* DocuWorks Ver. 6

When images exceeding the size limit specified in DocuWorks are scanned, an error will occur. For details, please refer to the DocuWorks Help.

When scanning a long document, the width of the file will determine the standard paper size to be used. Thus the long document will be divided equally based on the standard paper size and become a multi-page file.

If "Fit to Standard Size Paper" is selected, the unintended paper size may be selected. When this happens, change the settings at DocuWorks Desk according to your needs.

For example, when the scanner reads an A4 size document as Letter.
In this case, configure the following settings at the DocuWorks Desk.
  1. Select Option... from File of the DocuWorks Desk.
  2. Click the "Scan and Import" tab.
  3. Check the box next to "Fit to Imported Image".
If the paper size of an imported document is greater than A3 size, configure the following settings at the DocuWorks Desk to reduce it to A3 size.
  1. Select Option... from File of the DocuWorks Desk.
  2. Click the "Scan and Import" tab.
  3. Check the box next to "If scanned image exceeds A3 size, fit it into A3.".
If document with width or length exceeding 500mm is scanned, the area that has exceeded 500mm will not be displayed. For sizes such as A0, if both the width and height of the original document exceed 500mm, the dimension that will be displayed is 500mm x 500mm.
If the size of the original document exceeds the dimension of A3 size, follow the steps below.
  1. File (F) > DocuWorks Desk Options (O)
  2. Select "Scan and Import" tab.
  3. Select "If scanned image exceeds A3 size, fit into A3 (M)".

Adobe Inc.

* Adobe® Acrobat®

- If documents of [Store Fax - Local Folder] or [File for Secure Polling] are retrieved, an error may occur.
In such case, retrieve them as a TIFF file by Stored File Manager 3 first, and then open it with Acrobat.

- If you are using scan presets in Adobe Acrobat 8.0 and above, or if [Hide Scanner's Native Interface] is selected for custom scan, images cannot be scanned.
For custom scan, select [Show Scanner's Native Interface] from [User Interface] in Scanner Options to scan images.

* Adobe® Acrobat® 6.0

- Multiple pages (documents) cannot be imported in a batch.
Open the dialog box using the [View] button in the scan driver, then select [Page Display Mode] for [Display Mode] and import one page at a time.

- [Set to Often-Used Folders] feature is enabled automatically.
To change the scanner device or folder, press the [Select Scanner Screen] or [Select Folder Screen] button to go to the screen which shows a list of scanner devices.

* Adobe® Acrobat® 7.0

- Continuous importing cannot be performed if the document consists of both monochrome and color pages; a message will appear.
When the message appears, press [OK] to return to the [Acrobat Scan] screen. Press [Next] on this screen to go to the main screen showing the folder that was opened previously.
To import the next page, specify the document that has been stopped (icon indicates that import is in progress) and scan. Importing will resume from the next page.

- [Set to Often-Used Folders] feature is enabled automatically.
To change the scanner device or folder, press the [Select Scanner Screen] or [Select Folder Screen] button to go to the screen which shows a list of scanner devices.

- Do not use the OCR function.
Select [File] > [Create PDF] > [From Scanner...], then deselect the [Recognize Text Using OCR] check box on the [From Scanner...] screen. If scanning is performed with the [Recognize Text using OCR] check box selected, the document may not be scanned correctly.

Microsoft Corporation

* Word 2003 / Excel 2003 / PowerPoint 2003 / Publisher 2003 / FrontPage 2003

- Missing pages or document loss may occur when importing with the [File Display Mode] option. Therefore, it is necessary to import using [Page Display Mode].

- When importing images with Word 2003 / Excel 2003, changes such as those in the image size, rotation and color may occur. Import the images in TIFF or JPEG format via Stored File Manager 3 and paste them onto Word or Excel.
